Job Summary

Position Summary
The Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program aims to develop pharmacy leaders who are capable of improving the health of patients within the communities they serve. The primary purpose is to foster the development of community-based pharmacist practitioners who are community-focused practice leaders serving as innovators in community-based pharmacy practice. As part of this innovation of practice research residents engage with community-based pharmacy partners across the state of North Carolina in independent pharmacy chain pharmacy supermarket pharmacy college health ambulatory care outpatient health-system and specialty pharmacy collaboration with the pharmacy teams residents will leverage state and national practice initiatives strengths of the practice site and interests of the resident to complete quality improvement projects business plans and practice-based research projects to advance community-based practice. Residents will also teach student pharmacists in classroom and experiential settings; and attend Seminar.

Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The candidate should also be eligible for licensure in the state of North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
The preferred candidate should demonstrate: 1) an interest in community-based pharmacy including emerging practice trends; 2) effective communication and collaboration skills; 3) critical thinking and problem solving skills; 4) leadership and ability to partner with others to achieve a common goal; and 5) assertiveness and motivation.
