Job Summary
The Accounting File Clerk supports the financial operations of GEM by organizing maintaining and securing critical financial documentation. This entry-level role combines clerical duties with basic bookkeeping to ensure that the Accounting Department runs efficiently and remains audit-ready. Also requires accurate data entry into the accounting software system (AMB).
Essential Job Functions
- Document Management: Maintain physical and digital filing systems by sorting labeling indexing and archiving documents such as Accounts Payable invoices/check copies.
- Data Entry: Accurate input of financial data into accounting software (AMB) and spreadsheets.
- Reconciliation Support: Assist in reconciling bank statements general ledgers and credit card transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Audit Preparation: Gather and organize necessary documentation to support periodic internal or external audits.
- General Administration: Handle routine office tasks such as answering phones processing mail and managing office supply inventory.
Minimum Requirements
- On track to complete High School education or already earned Diploma/GED.
- One to twelve months related experience.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Occasional lifting and moving of archive boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
Abilities Required
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and the ability to recognize numerical errors.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfort with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and specialized accounting databases.
- Integrity: Ability to handle sensitive financial data with total discretion and maintain legal compliance.
- Skill in both Verbal and Written Communication.
- Organization: Strong time-management skills to juggle multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- Skills in Performing Detailed Computations.

Compensation Disclosure
This is a non-exempt hourly position. The pay range for this role is $16.90 to $24.75 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Overtime is paid in accordance with California state and federal labor laws. Additional compensation such as bonuses or incentive pay may be available based on performance and business needs.
At-Will Employment
This position is classified as at-will employment in accordance with California law. Employment may be terminated by either the employer or employee at any time with or without cause or notice subject to applicable law.
Work Location
This position is primarily based in our office located at 1200 Discovery Dr. Bakersfield Ca93309. Regular in-office attendance is required during standard business hours.
