GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Working supervisor responsible overseeing custodial programs on all campuses recycling waste and refuse on all campuses.

Salary Range:$65900 - 89120

Reports to: Director of Facilities Management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determines custodial staffing needs of Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses analyzes workloads assigns work to employees and arranges and adjusts employee work schedules.
  • Submitting minor repair work orders.
  • Coordinates and directs campus recycling collection.
  • Monitors Paycom and approves time off for all custodians.
  • Inspects quality of work buildings and condition of equipment.
  • Manages system of sorting co-mingled recyclables and delivery of compostable and waste products to designated areas.
  • Drives trucks and other vehicles as needed. Operates recycling equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and professional working environment in accordance with established University policies and procedures and in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Develops and manages the recycling program budget. Generates budgetary data assesses projected program expenses and creates a line item budget.
  • Submits annual written performance evaluations on all Custodial staff.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the Director of Facilities Management.

JOB SCOPE:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Facilities Management
  • Hires trains and supervises all Custodial Staff
  • Responsible for overseeing custodial programs on Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses recycling waste and refuse on these campuses.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Directly supervises and oversees the duties of all Custodial operations for the Forest Grove and Hillsboro campuses.
  • Submits annual written performance evaluations on all Custodial staff.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • Two or more years experience in Custodial Supervision.
  • Bi-lingual. Ability to read write and speak English and speak Spanish required. Spanish writing and reading ability preferred.
  • Current knowledge of cleaning materials and best practices.
  • Knowledge of county state and federal recycling laws regulations and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PC computers and software (word processing database and spreadsheets) required
  • Bachelors degree or other equivalent or managerial experience may be considered.

  • Communicates with students faculty staff and the public appropriate to the age of the individual served.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making.
  • Asks questions and seeks assistance.
  • Takes responsibility to eliminate the source of problems.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality regarding information pertaining to all students faculty and staff.
  • Maintains proper appearance and personal conduct for the employees particular job.
  • Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language filters listening paraphrasing and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon State Drivers License.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Worker is subject to environmental conditions with activities occurring inside normal office setting and outside during all weather conditions.
  • Capability to operate motor vehicles and motorized recycling and custodial equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work weekends holiday periods and overtime if needed
