SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
FULL TIME POSITIONS
Districtwide
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in speech and language pathology.
- Meets state educational requirements including academic credit and practicum experience.
- Approval from ASHA (American Speech Hearing Association)
- Holds a State of Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License.
JOB GOAL: Providing speech-language services to students fostering the highest level of communicative competence to support students overall educational goals.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes screening and levels of MTTS.
- Provides initial and re-evaluations to assess and diagnose a variety of communication disorders i.e. speech sounds language disorders voice fluency social communication.
- Writes evaluations and develops measurable goals and programming to meet student needs.
- Provides consultation to classroom teachers and other educational personnel servicing general education and special education students.
- Provides direct service to students with communication disorders across education settings and programs.
- Coordinates methods of teaching with classroom teachers and other educators working with the students with communication disorders.
- Provides consultation to parents of children tested but not eligible for a direct service program
- Provides consultation with parents regarding childrens progress and home programming.
- Acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a specialization in speech and language and the impact of those skills within the educational setting.
- Implements requirements set forth by the mandated Individualized Educational Planning Committee.
- Maintains appropriate paperwork as mandated by state law.
- Acts as a liaison between school and community agencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations Diversity Equity and Inclusion Principal and/or Supervisor
- Participates in Medicaid billing.
