Core Responsibilities
Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge practical and theoretical lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition).
Scientific Mastery: Guiding students through the chemical processes of cooking such as gelatinisation emulsification and the functional properties of different fats and proteins.
Advanced Culinary Skills: Teaching complex practical techniques including high-level pastry work knife skills and the precision required for high-scoring NEA (Non-Examination Assessment) tasks.
Nutrition & Health: Leading the schools efforts in promoting healthy lifestyles utilizing the Eatwell Guide to teach students about dietary-related diseases and nutritional requirements through the life stages.
Operational Excellence: Managing the kitchen environment with an uncompromising approach to health safety and hygiene (HACCP) ensuring a safe and disciplined space for all learners.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject authority with a passion for both the art and the science of food. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Food Technology Nutrition or a related discipline.
Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering high-quality learning outcomes and a deep understanding of the GCSE assessment objectives and practical marking criteria.
Technical Authority: The ability to demonstrate advanced culinary techniques with confidence and inspire students of all abilities to achieve professional standards.
Reflective Practice: A teacher who stays current with global food trends sustainability issues and the latest developments in nutritional science.
