The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on and customer-focused Field Robotics Engineer to support the deployment maintenance and optimisation of service and cleaning robots across hospitality commercial and industrial environments.

This role combines technical engineering capability with on-site client interaction ensuring robotic solutions are delivered maintained and performing to expected operational and ROI standards.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Deployment

  • Conduct on-site surveys and assess operational environments
  • Install configure and commission robotic systems (cleaning & service robots)
  • Perform mapping navigation setup and environment calibration
  • Set up charging stations workstations and network connectivity
  • Deliver on-site training and support go-live

Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and firmware updates
  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software faults
  • Respond to service requests within SLA timeframes
  • Manage spare parts and consumables
  • Use remote diagnostic tools where applicable

Customer Support & Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary on-site technical contact
  • Provide operational guidance and user support
  • Handle technical escalations professionally
  • Support demos pilots and customer onboarding
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and long-term adoption

System Optimisation & Performance

  • Monitor robot performance and identify improvements
  • Optimise mapping routes and operational logic
  • Support data collection for reporting and ROI analysis
  • Provide feedback to product and engineering teams

Compliance & Documentation

  • Complete installation reports service logs and incident reports
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards
  • Follow data handling procedures (GDPR where applicable)
  • Maintain accurate records in internal systems (CRM maintenance tools)

What Were Looking For

  • Experience in robotics automation engineering or field service roles
  • Strong hands-on technical and troubleshooting ability
  • Basic understanding of networking (Wi-Fi IP configuration) and software troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Comfortable working independently in field-based environments
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Professional and reliable when representing the company
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide

Experience

  • 13 years in a field engineering service engineering or technical support role (preferred)
  • Experience working on customer sites (hospitality retail logistics) is advantageous
  • Experience with autonomous systems or robotics is a strong plus

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Willingness to travel nationwide including occasional overnight stays
  • Flexible approach to working hours based on operational needs

Preferred (Bonus) Skills

  • Experience with robotic mapping or SLAM systems
  • Familiarity with Android-based platforms
  • Experience with IoT or cloud-connected systems
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance frameworks
