Job role: D365 Business Central Consultant

Duration: At least 3-4 month contract probably 6 months total

Location: Fort Worth TX 76155- Initially 4 days on site per week and then will become more remote the longer the candidate is there

Overview:

Client recently implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central but the system is not optimized and is creating significant operational and accounting challenges. They are seeking a senior techno functional Business Central specialist who can stabilize the environment resolve posting and configuration issues rebuild reporting and train internal staff to ensure long term success and adoption.

This is a hands on role that requires strong functional accounting knowledge paired with the technical ability to diagnose configure and optimize Business Central.

Key Responsibilities:

System Stabilization & Optimization

• Assess the current Business Central environment to identify misconfigurations broken workflows posting issues and data integrity gaps.
• Correct core finance setups posting groups workflows number series dimensions and other foundational elements.
• Clear the existing posting backlog dating back to January ensuring clean auditable financial records.
• Improve system performance reliability and error reduction across accounting and operations.

Accounting Support & Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with a lean accounting team to understand daily processes bottlenecks and pain points.
• Provide hands on support for AP AR GL postings bank reconciliation inventory costing and month end activities.
• Validate financial and operational reporting outputs to restore trust in the numbers.

Reporting & Analytics

• Rebuild accurate financial and operational reporting within Business Central Excel or Power BI.
• Ensure KPIs account schedules and dashboards reflect correct data and align with leadership needs.

Training & User Adoption

• Train the internal IT resource on Business Central best practices configuration troubleshooting and basic admin functions.
• Coach accounting staff on daily usage workflows posting routines and system navigation.
• Build SOPs quick guides and repeatable processes to support long term system health and adoption.

Technical Contributions

• Troubleshoot integration issues extensions and environment setup.
• Make configuration adjustments and light customizations as needed to support business processes.
• Partner with leadership to ensure Business Central aligns with operational and financial goals.

Required Experience:

• 5 years of hands on experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central (functional plus technical).
• Strong background in accounting and finance processes within BC (GL AP AR bank rec inventory costing posting groups).
• Proven experience stabilizing or re implementing Business Central after failed or incomplete implementations.
• Ability to diagnose posting errors misconfigurations workflow failures and data integrity issues.
• Solid reporting experience using Account Schedules Excel Power BI or similar tools.
• Excellent communication skills especially with non technical accounting teams.
• Experience training internal IT and business users.
