We are seeking a flexible and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic float pool team. This role requires adaptability and strong clinical skills as the RN will provide care across multiple medical and surgical units ensuring high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care across various medical and surgical units
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient conditions
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and deliver patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
- Respond effectively to changes in patient status and emergencies
- Medical Unit
- Surgical/Acute Unit
- Cardiovascular Unit (occasional coverage)
- 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM 7:15 PM)
- Scheduled for 36 hours per week after orientation
- Flexibility required; hours are not guaranteed
- Medical Unit: 1:6 (days/evenings) 1:8 (nights)
- Surgical/Acute Unit: 1:6
- Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
Ratios may vary based on patient acuity and staffing needs
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required prior to start)
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in acute care settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
- Procedural Sedation certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Experience in Med-Surg and/or Step-Down units
- Ability to adapt quickly to different unit workflows and patient populations
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience with electronic medical records (e.g. Meditech or similar systems)
- Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems
- Experience managing wound vacs and chest tubes
- Unit-specific orientation provided for each assigned department
- Must obtain required state licensure prior to assignment start
- Must comply with all health and immunization requirements (medical/religious exemptions not accepted in place of proof)
- Must be available prior to start date for pre-employment health clearance
- Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs)
