Summary of Job Duties:
The Business Security & Automation Specialist serves as the University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus functional resource for Workday security supporting the administration governance and continuous improvement of security roles and access across Finance and Human Capital Management (HCM). This role is part of the HCM & Finance Reporting & Automation team within Process Innovation.This role works closely with campus functional teams report developers and system administrators to ensure security access is appropriately assigned documented and aligned with business processes reporting needs and governance standards. The specialist evaluates security requirements for business processes reports and integrations; develops recommendations aligned with Workday best practices; and considers impacts to approvals data visibility and downstream processes. Clear documentation and implementation guidance are provided to support security configuration.
In addition the role focuses on improving efficiency and scalability by developing tools leveraging data and reporting capabilities and supporting automated approaches to security administration and review processes.
Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and monitor assignment and removal of Workday security roles for campus users
Support the annual security role audit and ongoing security access reviews
Evaluate security implications of business processes reports and integrations including impacts to approvals data visibility and downstream processes
Develop security recommendations aligned with Workday best practices and institutional policies
Prepare clear documentation and implementation guidance for security configuration teams
Document Workday security roles and their use within business processes and reports
Assist in developing tools scripts and automated solutions to simplify and standardize the security request and review processes
Provide guidance to campus stakeholders on appropriate use and design of security roles
Identify and implement opportunities to improve security governance transparency and process efficiency through automation scripting and use of emerging technologies
Support cross-functional teams with security analysis for new initiatives and process changes
Maintain documentation of security decisions role purposes and justification for access
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Information Systems Finance Human Resources or related field
Experience working with analytics and problem-solving
Experience working with enterprise systems data or business processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with Workday or similar ERP systems
Experience with system security concepts roles and access management
Experience working in higher education ERP environments
Experience documenting business processes or system configurations
Experience supporting audits or access reviews
Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g. SQL PowerShell Python or similar)
Experience leveraging data platforms or emerging technologies to automate processes or improve system efficiency
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of role-based security concepts and access governance
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze business processes and identify security implications and downstream impacts
Ability to document security requirements and recommendations clearly
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation
Ability to collaborate with technical and functional teams
Ability to translate complex security concepts into understandable guidance
Strong technical aptitude including the ability to design and develop automated solutions using scripting or data tools
Ability to leverage emerging technologies (e.g. data platforms APIs automation tools) to improve security processes and scalability
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within security administration
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
