Department of Computer Science Instructional Student Assistant Instructional Lab Assistant Pool
POSITION
The Department of Computer Science at CSUF invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant - ILA Pool. Lab Assistants tend lab sections for CPSC 120/121L circulate and help students with their work and provide academic support under faculty supervision. Lab Assistants are not involved in the creation or grading of assignments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in preparing lab materials equipment and supplies
Support instructors during lab sessions as needed including distributing materials or helping students with equipment
Clean and organize lab areas before and after sessions ensuring safety protocols are followed
Set up test and maintain lab equipment; report any malfunctions or safety issues
Ensure student compliance with lab rules
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in the Computer Science department
Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students
Computer Science major; GPA of 3.0 or higher
Has completed CPSC 120 121 and 131 or equivalents with at least a B
Preferably has taken at least one of these courses at CSUF
Excellent ability to operate the operating systems Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) command-line interfaces (CLIs) and other mandated software environments used in lower-division CPSC courses
Eligible to work in the United State and can provide eligibility documents

COMPENSATION
All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification not to exceed $20.00
MANDATED REPORTER PER CANRA
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21 2017 as a condition of employment.
OUT-OF-STATE EMPLOYMENT POLICY
In accordance with the California State University (CSU) Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and requires hiring employees to perform CSU related work within the State of California.
