| Job Description: | As a member of the Library West Collection Services team the Student Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Library West. This position focuses on accurately re-shelving a high volume of circulating materials and performing essential tasks that helpmaintainthe librarys organization and function. The Student Assistant will report directly to the Collections Services Manager andassistwith various collection-related duties including participation in specified cleaning and other projects. The Student Assistant will be expected to work no fewer than 15 hours per week up to 25 hours per week. Training with library softwareLibrary of Congressclassification system andLibrary Westpoliciesisprovided during onboarding. Work Schedule: During training hours can be between Monday Friday from 8 AM 4 PM. Upon completion of training work time will be available during Library Wests operational hours to be scheduled upon hire. Hours are flexible. See Library West open hours here: Duties: - Accurately re-shelve circulating library materials ensuring items arepromptlyplaced inorder by the Library of Congress classification system.
- Shift sections of library materials to new locations relabel dust and block shelves as needed tomaintainthe librarys organization and cleanliness.
- Walksestablishedroutes through the library tolocatematerials that are not in use and must be re-shelved.
- Take statistics and record relevant information to track and support library operations.
- Assistwith pulling materials for the Google Books project ensuring that items match shipment criteria andreportingany discrepancies or issues to supervisors.
- Maintains working knowledge of competencies requiredby the Library of Congress classification system andUF Libraries policies.
- Assistspatrons with questions about the collection andUF Librariespolicies.
- Perform other duties as assigned which may include supporting collection management tasks andassistingwith general library functions.

| Required Qualifications: | - Communicative with the Collections Manager in a timely manner with any schedule changes.
- Strong work ethic with tedious tasks.
- Ability to work withthe libraries patron and employee population.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to work well with intermediate heights ladders for stacks.
- Comfortable with multiple ongoing projects.
- Basic computer skills: experience with Microsoft Teams Work Excel and Outlook.
- Requires bending squatting kneeling reaching over head and ability to move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass all required trainings
- Federal Work Study Program required
