Job Summary
Responsible for book classification processing repair and aiding of material within the department as well as any addition need such as sorting checking- in and research. Cataloger assists and take lead role during Summer Programs and special events. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions
- Fix data on problem items coming from inventory.
- Supervise children in Porter Doss Building after school and assist patrons.
- Assist with training for volunteers and work-studies in Cataloging Department.
- Conducting Librarys inventory.
- Photographic duties on some occasions.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
- Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
- Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.
- Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at Citys expense.
- Applicant must have current valid Class C Drivers License and be insurable.
- Must have high school diploma; or equivalent.
- Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
Knowledge Abilities and Skill
- Some knowledge of AACR conventions and Dewey classification.
- Effective working relations.
- Above average spelling grammar and clerical ability.
- Effective and structural Organization skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Adept to data.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional walking standing and stooping.
- Occasional lifting moving or positioning objects up to 30lbs.
