About the position
Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norways largest hospital with over 25 000 employees. It is a local hospital forparts of Oslos population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway RegionalHealth Authority and it has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of
medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.
The Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Medicine at OUH is composed of several departments. Theseinclude Institute for Experimental Medical Research Institute for Surgical Research Department of VascularDiseases Department of Cardiology Department of Respiratory Medicine Department of CardiothoracicSurgery and Department of Logistics and Outpatient Services. The departments are located at two differentlocations of Oslo University Hospital (Rikshospitalet and Ullevål Hospital). Both locations have extensiveresearch facilities. Teaching of medical students takes place at all hospital locations. The departments conductresearch in several major fields within cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine and include severalinternationally leading research groups.
The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norways largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7000 employees. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norways oldestmedical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education research and dissemination for the patients andsocietys best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1000 work years) and about 2 000 students.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine is a national and regional referral centre for patients with advancedlung diseases and for interventional bronchoscopy and has national responsibility for lung the Department runs an extensive out-patient clinic and 15 in-patient hospital beds. The Departmentemploys 12 medical doctors of which nine are senior consultants. Weekly the Department is responsible for anumber of multi-disciplinary team meetings (in-person and digital) and the Department provides extensiveconsulting services for other units at Oslo University Hospital. One full-professor and one associate professorare currently affiliated to the Department of Respiratory Medicine and the Department contributes toteaching of medical students in the 3rd and 6th year at the University of Oslo.

Regarding the clinical position at OUH
The vacant position is a Senior Consultant (100 % position) at the Department of RespiratoryMedicine Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases Oslo University Hospital. The seniorconsultant position is combined with a 20 % position as professor of Medicine (Pulmonology) orassociate professorship (depending on academic qualifications) at The Institute of Clinical MedicineUniversity of Oslo.
The main position and the part time position are combined. It is required that the position holder hasboth positions. If the main position is left the part-time position must also be vacated. If one isgranted leave from the main position the question of whether the part-time position can be held willbe evaluated by the Head of Institute.
Position overview
Academic responsibilities
- To lead and initiate research projects where research experience from interstitial lungdiseases will be considered beneficial.
- Initiate and participate in researcher-initiated studies at local national and internationallevels.
- Develop self-initiated projects and actively seek external funding.
- Aim to establish a research group with high national and international recognition inalignment with the goals of the Department and Oslo University Hospital.
Clinical responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care in interstitial lung diseases and other fields that are theresponsibility of the Department supporting the Departments role as a national referencecentre.
- Engage in the Departments general activities including on-call duties.
Required qualifications
The candidate must be approved specialist in internal medicine and respiratory medicine. Thecandidate must also have documented experience within the field of interstitial lung diseases andlung transplantation both academically and clinically. The candidate must be prepared to participatein on-call duties and the candidate must be proficient in any general medical and pulmonologicalexpertise that is required to fulfil this duty.
The candidate must have the academic qualification of PhD or equivalent and have experience inteaching medical students. A broad international professional network within relevant fields isdesirable.
Personal qualifications and skills
Personal qualifications of the applicant including documented collaborative skills will beimportant.
- Patient management involves empathic communication skills at a high level towards patientsand their families.
- Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required.
- Proven contact and collaboration with strong international professional network.

Regarding academic position at UiO:
The academic position is a Professor (SKO 1013) or Associate Professor (SKO 1011) (20 % position).The basis for evaluation of the applicants by the assessment committee will include her/his scientificother professional educational and publishing qualifications qualifications related to managementand administration and personal qualifications. As part of the ranking process of qualified applicantsthe full scope of these qualifications will be explicitly assessed. Particular weight will be given toqualifications that are central to the announcement and the description of the position. Scientificqualifications will carry more weight than other qualifications.
