Behavior Interventionist

POSITION PURPOSE: To provide support and intervention for students with continuing emotional and /or behavioral problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Consults with teachers counselors school social workers and other appropriate personnel concerning the behavioral objectives and goals of students.
• Assists instructional personnel in the development of behavioral plans.
• Implements behavioral programs designed to make positive and appropriate changes.
• Works one-on-one with students to effect behavior changes. Assists instructional personnel as necessary.
• Works with related agencies to develop an effective program of activities for changing unacceptable behavior of students.
• Provides information to family or other care providers concerning action of students.
• Ensures consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with all appropriate students contacts.
• Works with school personnel to obtain information and advice on prior behavior problems.
• Provides information as necessary to teachers and other personnel concerning behavioral concerns.
• Maintains records on contacts with students which detail all proposed and completed behavioral objectives.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications and district identified database program applications.
• Experience working with at-risk youth.

5.
