Our Core Wagering team builds and runs the backend systems that power betting markets at scale processing huge volumes of live data and transactions every second. From live sports feeds through to pricing and settlement our platforms need to be fast resilient and always on.

As a Senior Software Engineer Core Wagering youll play a key role in keeping Australias most recognisable wagering products running smoothly while helping evolve a complex hightraffic ecosystem that never sleeps. Your role in action

Reporting to a Technical Team Lead youll be a senior individual contributor within the Core Wagering engineering team. Youll design build and support critical backend services that underpin fixed odds and tote betting products working closely with traders product partners and fellow engineers.

• Design and build hightraffic backend wagering systems that operate around the clock
• Optimise performance resilience and availability across core betting platforms
• Integrate and process live thirdparty sports data feeds and messaging streams
• Support pricing models and market creation for fixed odds and pooled betting
• Champion good engineering decisions code quality and operational excellence
• Mentor engineers and contribute strong technical leadership without people management

What youll need to succeed

Youre a senior backend engineer who thrives in complex environments. You enjoy solving hard problems working close to the business and building systems where speed accuracy and reliability truly count.

• Significant experience building Javabased backend systems for highvolume platforms
• Proven capability working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) DevOps practices and container orchestration
• Strong experience with messaging and publishsubscribe technologies such as Kafka Redis or RabbitMQ
• Experience supporting legacy frameworks including Play Framework while modernising safely
• Solid mathematical thinking with an understanding of odds pricing and wagering concepts
• Passion for sport wagering products or trading environments is highly valued
