The Division of Animal Resources (DAR) is a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development. The primary objective of the Animal Resource program is to facilitate the use of animals in research and teaching at Georgia State University while assuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Animal Resources program maintains responsibilities in animal procurement animal housing and daily care the provision of veterinary care health surveillance and preventative care assisting investigators and their staff with animal procedures and the care maintenance and replacement of relevant equipment and facilities.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
The Cage Wash Supervisor supervises and provides direction and guidance to all cage wash technicians of the downtown GSU animal facilities. Provides coordination and implementation of the cage wash facility activities. This includes compliance & supervision coordinating with researchers reports inventory inspections training etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Manages and supervises the daily operations of downtown cage wash staff including staff scheduling.
Ensures ongoing compliance with all GSU local state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to the animal care and use program.
Manages the annual performance evaluation process for direct reports; identifies inappropriate or problematic behavior in a timely manner and implements corrective actions as needed.
Works in conjunction with GSU Physical Plant personnel and contracted vendors to facilitate building renovation and repair projects.
Maintains routine recordkeeping related to environmental conditions supply inventory and daily activities.
Sanitizes cage systems animal rooms and support areas using automated and manual equipment.
Performs work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director.
Performs other professional-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in a related field and three years of related experience
Preferred Requirements:
Leadership and/or supervisory experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and awareness of attention to detail.
Salary offers will be determined based on the candidates qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.
