Job Summary

Description

This role promotes evidence-based lactation practices assists with complex feeding concerns and collaborates with physicians advanced practice providers and nursing staff to improve maternalinfant health outcomes.

This position requires a Level II Background check and drug screen.

This position is grant funded.



Responsibilities
  • Provide direct lactation consultation and develop individualized care plans for patients.
  • Address breastfeeding challenges including latch issues milk supply and infant feeding.
  • Educate patients on pumping milk storage and return-to-work planning.
  • Serve as a resource for OB/GYN faculty residents and staff on lactation best practices.
  • Document care in the electronic health record and participate in departmental initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • RN APP or other healthcare background.
  • Experience in maternalinfant care or womens health
  • Strong teaching communication and collaborative skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required
  • Additional advanced certifications or training in maternalinfant care or womens health
  • Prior experience in program development research or leadership in lactation services

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:

(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;

(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration
required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
