Job Summary
What we are looking for
SCS is looking for a summer 2026 Intern for our Renewable Energy division. The division focuses on renewable energy design/build/operate projects in the renewable biogas and renewable power markets. SCS Energys biogas-to-energy facilities currently operating or currently under design or construction will remove more thanmetric tons/year of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.
SCS goal is to provide a student intern with valuable technical and engineering business experience through our diverse range of projects for the clients we addition we believe this opportunity provides a student intern the ability to explore the beginnings of their own career path. This will be a remote position and will be 30- 40 hours of work per week typically.
How you can make an impact
You will contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:
- Gas process analysis of biogas conversion to renewable natural gas projects
- Equipment selection and analysis
- Mass balance review and editing
- Process flow diagram review and editing
- Excel calculations and editing
- Process drawing edits with Bluebeam
- Create compile and organize project documentation
- Review piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) against valve instrument and line lists for accuracy
- Process analysis for biogas utilization projects
- Mechanical piping design
- Mechanical equipment selection and analysis
- Create compile and organize project documentation
- Start up and commissioning engineering support on site
- Design drawing and 3D modeling creation modification and checking
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in chemical or mechanical engineering and graduating by June 2027 required
- Must be willing to live in the Long Beach area for Summer 2025 (housing allowance will not be provided)
- Solid technical and computer skills (AutoCAD experience preferred)
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Valid drivers license with a driving record in good standing required
