As a Lead Software Engineer COBOL at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Auto Lending youare an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance build and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure stable and scalable way. As a core technical contributor you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firms business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions design development and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Develops secure high-quality production code and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors startups and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs technical credentials and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity opportunity inclusion and respect

Required qualifications capabilities and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design application development testing and operational stability
• Strong knowledge of COBOL JCL DB2/IMS VSAM and CICS
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle including business analysis development maintenance and continuous improvement
• Hands-on experience with tools such as IntelliJ/Eclipse Maven BitBucket/Git/GitHub JMeter/Blazemeter Spring Framework Hibernate Spring Batch Spring Boot MVC Spring Cloud and Public Cloud (AWS)
• Know with Unix Shell Scripts API Gateways Apache Kafka Cassandra and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge in Core Java Spring frameworks REST API development Cloud technologies Microservices architecture Bootstrap and React.
• Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g. cloud artificial intelligence machine learning mobile etc.)
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
• Proven ability to apply agile software development methodologies such as SCRUM to achieve quick turnaround and efficient delivery
• Experience in Computer Science Computer Engineering Mathematics or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications capabilities and skills

• Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
• Practical Cloud native experience
• Experience interacting with user experience designers product owners and produce quick prototypes to seek feedback
• Ability to adopt to the fast-paced environment with changing requirements
