Water Resources Engineer
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer for our Water Resources Group in British Columbia Canada. This new role offers the right candidate the potential for a fast upward career progression within AECOM.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Apply experience and knowledge to the planning and design of stormwater infrastructure for municipal transportation and mining projects.
- Design drainage systems and stormwater control structures for the municipal transportation and mining sectors.
- Develop MMCD and NMS design specifications and cost estimates for tender documents.
- Perform site inspections and collaborate with the contract administrator for construction or stormwater systems.
- Work with the Water Resources planning/modelling team to define existing and future scenarios analyze results and make recommendations for future upgrades/capital planning including cost estimates.
- Design green infrastructure including infiltration retention and treatment systems such as raingardens bioswales ponds etc.
- Define scope for topographical survey work and geotechnical assessments to inform stormwater systems design.
- Supervise the work of junior engineers and drafters.
- Collaborate with geomorphologists to develop engineered solutions including river crossings erosion and scour protection.
- Prepare high-quality standards design reports.
- Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets for water resources projects or for water resources components of larger projects (i.e. multi-disciplinary).
- Communicate and work with other project team members and clients providing a high standard of technical excellence to support that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.
- Ability to develop presentation skills clearly articulate thoughts and think critically in relation to project particular to present discuss promote and defend design solutions to AECOM project teams and clients.
Qualifications :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering
- 6 years of water resources experience including design of stormwater systems
- Experience with CADD design to lead designers/drafters
- Registered with EGBC as a .
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong English verbal and written skills
EXPERIENCE CONSIDERED AS AN ASSET:
- Experience in stormwater systems planning/modelling and design
- Experience with HY-8 PCSWMM and WaterCAD
- Experience in the preparation of cost estimates and tender packages
- Experience in construction management of stormwater infrastructure
- Experience in the design of stormwater management facilities stormwater control structures and green infrastructure
- Demonstration of commercial awareness and the ability to support the team to deliver projects on time and on budget
