Description

Position Title: Student Venture Consultant.
Department: Office of Student Activities.
Classification: Non-Exempt.
FTE: 0.10.
Work Schedule: This position is designed for a flexible 8-hour work week; occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
Work Location: On Campus.
Hourly Rate: $22.00.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide specialized advising and mentorship to support the operations and business development of the student-run kitchen within the Lions Pause.
    • Strengthen student leadership by coaching student managers in food safety customer service financial decision-making and operational best practices.
    • Develop consistent replicable resources and systems that improve business viability risk management and customer satisfaction.
    • Serve as a local industry expert bringing small-business management culinary knowledge and practical operations experience to students.
  • Serve as an active resource and advocate to student organizations and student leaders as requested.
    • Provide general support and coaching to students who visit the OSA.
    • Advise student leaders in budgeting matters financial procedures fundraising efforts and event planning processes.
  • General responsibilities.
    • Invest in the professional development of self and team through various means.
    • Assist in the management and troubleshooting of relevant software.
    • Support respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
    • Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

  • Reports to the Director of Student Activities.
  • This position supervises student workers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • GED or equivalent work experience
  • Experience:
    • 2 years of professional or related experience in business/restaurant management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience:
    • 4 years of professional experience.

Prerequisites:

  • Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks reference checks verification of work history verification of any required academic credentials licenses and/or certifications a motor vehicle check verification of DOT certification a credit check employment eligibility verification and/or a pre-employment physical.
