Job Summary
Role Overview
The Mechanical & HVAC Design Engineer will drive the design and engineering of HVAC systems for mission-critical Data Center projects.
You will work closely with senior engineers to develop concepts detailed designs and construction deliverables gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecyclefrom design to commissioning.
This role is ideal for engineers who are strong in fundamentals eager to learn data center design and capable of delivering high-quality engineering output under guidance.
Experience required
4 to 10 years (with Data Center Design experience of 2 years)
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering Support
Drive & own the design of HVAC systems for data centers including:
- Chilled water systems (air-cooled / water-cooled)
- Primary & Secondary pumps
- CRAH / AHU-based cooling systems & the Liquid cooling systems.
- Ventilation and exhaust systems
Perform engineering calculations:
- Heat load calculations
- Duct sizing and static pressure calculations
- Pipe sizing and basic hydraulic calculations
- Support development of:
- Layouts (equipment ducting piping)
- Schematics and basic system diagrams
Drawings & BIM Coordination
Prepare and update:
- AutoCAD drawings (plans sections schematics)
- Revit models (if applicable)
- Coordinate with: Electrical Architectural Structural and Fire teams
- Support clash resolution and model coordination
Documentation Support
Assist in preparation of:
- Basis of Design (BOD)
- Design reports and calculations
- BOQs and technical specifications
- Maintain organized documentation and drawing revisions
Project Delivery Support
Work under guidance of senior engineers to:
- Implement design changes
- Address review comments
- Support design development from concept to IFC
Assist in:
- Vendor drawing reviews
- Technical submittal evaluations
Construction & Commissioning Exposure
Provide support during:
- Construction stage (RFIs drawing clarifications)
- Site coordination (as required)
Mandatory Skills & Competencies
Technical Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems:
- Air conditioning systems (DX / chilled water)
- Ducting and piping systems
- Liquid Cooling direct to chip CDU - minimum
- Ventilation systems
Knowledge of:
- Heat load calculations
- Basic airflow and hydraulic principles
Qualifications :
Qualifications
- BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- Good to Have
- Exposure to data center or mission-critical projects
- Basic understanding of:
- ASHRAE / ISHRAE standards
- Data center cooling concepts
- Internship or project experience in HVAC design
Software Skills
- AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Basic knowledge of Revit MEP (preferred)
- Familiarity with: HAP / Trace or similar tools (preferred)
Communication & Attitude
- Good communication skills (verbal & written)
- Willingness to learn and take technical guidance
- Ability to work in a team environment and meet deadlines
