Downer is proud to be delivering a range of key infrastructure projects across the Wellington region. Our South division has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work nationwide.

We are looking for an experienced or up-and-coming Driver Operator (Class 4 or 5) to join our Wellington team.

In this role youll primarily operate Class 4 trucks supporting pavement and construction activities working across a variety of construction renewal and maintenance projects.

We also have a brand-new Class 5 truck & trailer unit within the wider business that requires reliable cover. For this reason were looking for someone who is either:

• Already Class 5 licensed or
• A Class 4 operator willing and able to progress to Class 5 with support

When required youll step in to operate the Class 5 unit transporting heavy plant such as mills paving machines and rollers between sites - playing a key role in keeping operations moving.

Ngā pūkenga matua Important Skills

You will be a reliable safety-focused operator who takes pride in your work. Youll also bring:

Full Class 4 licence (minimum required) Class 5 highly regarded
Willingness to step up to Class 5 (training/support available for the right person)
Experience operating trucks in civil/roading environments (preferred)
WTR endorsements (advantageous but not essential)
Good spatial awareness and confidence manoeuvring in tight or active work sites
Experience reversing tipping and positioning trucks safely on-site
Strong commitment to health & safety practices
A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider crew
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
Flexibility with working hours when required
