Job Summary

Conservation Head- Starting Technician (Part- Time)

Toledo Zoo & Aquarium

Our Conservation Department is currently seeking Part-TimeHead- Starting TechniciansWe are seeking two part-time technicians to handle daily care and husbandry of our Lake Sturgeon restoration initiative and provide support for our Blandings Turtle and Copperbelly Watersnake head-starting programs. This position reports to the Director of Vertebrate Conservation is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act requires a minimum of 24 hours worked and may require work on weekends and holidays.

Essential Job Functions:

Daily feeding cleaning and care of the captive conservation collection.
Collecting accurate data including weights measurements feedings etc.
Attention to detail especially pertaining to the head-started animals.
Weekly collection updates to supervisor.
Training and supervising teenage volunteers or staff
Additional Zoo-related tasks as required.

Minimum Training & Qualification

Must be 18 years of age
Willingness and ability to work varying hours
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
Dedication to accurate and thorough data collection
Self-motivated with a positive attitude
Respectful and professional in interactions with other team members partners and the public
Must have the ability to lift 50lbs

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree
Prior experience working with captive turtles snakes or fish.

Previous work with teenage volunteers or community outreach.
