Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and independent Speech Therapist for an inpatient rehabilitation setting within an acute care environment. This role requires strong clinical expertise in swallowing assessments including the ability to independently perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies.
Clinical Setting- Inpatient rehabilitation within an acute care facility
- May include exposure to Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and potential outpatient referrals
- Collaborative interdisciplinary care environment
- Generally a 5-day workweek
- May include one weekend day based on patient care needs
- Schedule may vary depending on census and staffing
- Potential floating to other units or facilities as needed
- Evaluate diagnose and treat speech language cognitive and swallowing disorders
- Perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies independently without radiologist supervision
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy plans accordingly
- Collaborate with physicians nursing staff and rehabilitation teams
- Provide patient and family education on therapy goals and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for inpatient and outpatient services
- Electronic Medical Records: EPIC (with training provided)
- Additional documentation systems may include Meditech (inpatient) and paper-based outpatient records
- Radiology equipment for MBS studies
- Active Speech Therapist license (state-specific; must be obtained prior to start if not currently held)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute care rehabilitation or SNF settings preferred
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies
- Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required
- ASHA certification required
- Strong clinical communication and organizational skills
- Orientation and training provided for EMR documentation and rehabilitation workflows
- Travelers must complete pre-employment health requirements prior to assignment start
- Flexibility required for floating based on operational needs
- Reference checks must be submitted via email
- Scrubs or facility-approved professional attire
