- The Registered Nurse is responsible for independently administering a variety of chemotherapy immunotherapy targeted therapy and injections (chemo hormonal and non-chemo/hormonal) in accordance with the provider s addition accessing port-a-caths PICC s and Hickman catheters. Performing venipuncture PICC and Hickman dressings labs via ports PICC s and Hickman catheters. Appropriate clinical care of all patients assigned maintains accurate concise and complete records on the patient s condition treatment medications and responses to treatment. Monitors and maintains accurate records of all intravenous therapies and the patient s responses to treatment. Notifies the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual occurrences and initiates appropriate emergency action when necessary. Provide education to patients families and caregivers regarding medications and treatments expected responses and side effects disease process nutrition activity and physical adjustments related to the disease process or treatment.
Responsible for verifying informed consent prior to administering chemotherapy.
The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of proper handling administration and disposal of hazardous drugs and proper usage of PPE. Maintains a safe environment complies with policies and procedures.
Must be proficient in Epic EMR
Performs other related duties as assigned.
