We are seeking an experienced Travel Emergency Room RN for a 13-week Nights shift assignment.
Job Purpose & Position Overview
Provide direct patient care to a service population of approximately 10000 people using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies values and mission of the organization. The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours per day/seven days a week and has a Physician on duty at all times.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the WCHS core mission vision and values
- Assesses patients presenting for emergency care and triages based on history physical assessment and chief complaint.
- Provides comprehensive nursing care for acutely ill and/or critically ill patients.
- Administers therapeutic measure as prescribed by the physician to include but not limited to medication administration intravenous fluids blood transfusions treatment and maintains those measures taken which are ongoing in nature.
- Operates and monitors specialized medical equipment.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care services.
- Initiates patient education plan as prescribed by a physician.
- Cleans and bandages wounds.
- Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks.
- Records all care information concisely accurately and efficiently and in the appropriate format on the appropriate forms.
- Punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
- Adheres to and upholds HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state.
- Associate s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor s of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- At least two (2) years of professional nursing experience preferably with one (1) year in an Emergency Room setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Normal to heavy work which includes the ability to lift up to 20-50 lbs. Lifting and/or transferring of patients may involve heavy lifting.
- Regularly required to walk stand and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard phone and various office or medical equipment.
- Manual dexterity with cooperatively free range of motion of all extremities including neck fingers hands wrists elbows arms shoulders waist legs hips knee joints ankles and feet is required.
- Fine motor skills required.
Mental Requirements:
- Reading writing calculating
- Above average social interaction skills
- Reasoning/Analysis
- Works with minimal to no supervision
Language Requirements:
- Must possess the ability to read write and speak the English language fluently.
- Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
Certificates Licenses & Registrations:
- All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301 Subpart D Section 1301.31 C and D which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
