About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Assistant for a local contract opportunity in Novato CA. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong outpatient clinic skills who is comfortable with direct patient care clinical support documentation and maintaining efficient clinic workflow.
Preferred Experience
- Epic experience preferred if possible
- Reprocessing / procedural experience is highly preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs
- Document reason for visit symptoms frequency and severity in the electronic medical record
- Provide injections and immunizations as ordered by the provider
- Assist during medical procedures
- Obtain patient information required for regulatory compliance
- Track receipt of all ordered test results
- Perform POCT and complete quality controls
- Use EMR task lists to support patient visits and requests
- Communicate lab results prescription-related information and referrals appropriately
- Complete referrals accurately and maintain patient confidentiality
- Disinfect exam rooms between patients and clean patient areas at end of day
- Support clinic upkeep daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory
- Reprocess scopes and/or probes after completion of competency in specialty clinics
- Perform sterilization of instruments and use of autoclave
- Remain calm and effective in emergencies or high-pressure situations
- Collaborate with team members and support ongoing clinic projects
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Comply with OSHA and safety regulations
- Be flexible to work in multiple locations if required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program such as NHA or AMCA required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required
- At least 1 year of related Medical Assistant experience in a physicians office or other clinical setting or equivalent training/experience
