R&D Engineer – product maintenance focus
Job Summary
About the role
As an R&D Engineer with a primary focus on product maintenance you will be the technical owner of engineering changes that keep our existing product portfolio performing at its best. Working at the heart of our engineering organization you will drive mechanical and system design changes end-to-end from initial assessment through implementation and documentation while also contributing to exciting new development projects in marine energy systems.

What you do
Primary focus product maintenance & engineering changes
- Drive the technical part of engineering changes related to mechanical and system design maintaining and improving the existing product portfolio to ensure optimal performance and support organizational success
- Select the right components including writing specifications and conducting technical evaluation of supplier proposals
- Assess and own how changes impact surrounding systems taking full accountability for the change from initiation through to close-out
- Create Technical Solution Descriptions documenting the impact of changes across diagrams models and technical documentation
- Implement changes spanning P&IDs component changes process changes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization working closely with colleagues to evaluate and implement changes effectively
You will also get the opportunity to
- Design and develop marine systems and components including burners boilers heat exchangers and future fuel systems
- Participate in and conduct research and risk assessments (HAZOP HAZID FMEA DFMEA) document findings and deliver reports that guide key decisions
- Develop detailed design documents for both individual parts and complete products ensuring quality and manufacturability
- Support internal R&D projects with continuous improvement i.e. of contributing to the successful realization of new marine energy solutions
About you

Must have
- Educational background in Mechanical Engineering Marine Engineering or a similar technical discipline
- Experience in a similar role involving design and development of systems and component selection
- Demonstrated ability to thrive with tasks related to changes in existing systems and products including component changes optimization quality assurance and operational philosophies
- Natural ownership mindset able to take technical decisions independently and see them through
- Strong collaboration communication and interpersonal skills
- Structured approach to work with solid coordination skills
- Experience with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or similar
Highly valued / nice to have
- Experience with burners boilers heat exchangers scrubbers or similar marine/industrial systems
- Familiarity with PLM software Autodesk Vault and/or Siemens Teamcenter is a distinct advantage
- Exposure to risk assessment methodologies: HAZOP HAZID FMEA DFMEA
