IWPB Data Analytics and AI team in Global Service Centre (GSC) is an innovative community leveraging the best of data and analytics capabilities to enable smarter decisions and drive profitable growth for the business. The work done within this team forms a vital input towards strategic planning by the senior management and enables effective decision making along with addressing unforeseen challenges. Rightly positioned in the two major intellectual hubs of India (Bangalore and Kolkata) China Mexico and Malaysia it attracts a rich mix of data analytics and AI talent across locations. Being in these locations also enables HSBC to leverage talent from the rich academic and start-up ecosystem to keep up to date with the latest in the industry.

IWPB Data Analytics & AI (DAAI) is a global organisation that specialises in providing state-of-the-art analytics and solutions to the RBWM business supporting Product Channel Pricing Digital Fraud and other areas. The department has more than 300 Machine Learning users and is building this capability with several use cases.

Fraud & Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Analytics plays a major role in curbing external & internal risk by developing counter-fraud & NFR solutions across a range of IWPB products. The team supports fraud mitigation across multiple financial products and is involved in the identification formulation and implementation of analytical processes and projects in the fraud domain.

The Associate Director will play a crucial role in leading and identifying opportunities in Fraud (External Fraud Internal Fraud and real time Money Mules) & NFR Strategic Analytics. This may include creation of new squads working with key stakeholders to mitigate fraud and developing the right analytics strategy for the specific domain area. The role provides thought leadership and takes ownership and accountability for analytical solutions proposed. The role has opportunity to lead a team of Lead Analysts Principal Analysts and Senior Analysts both onshore and offshore. Areas may include card transaction fraud digital payments fraud application/account takeover fraud and Real Time Money Mules detection Sales Quality KYC & CDD; the role will lead and deliver on a specific set of typologies.

In addition to the above the Associate Director is also expected to play an important role in collaborating with wider COO department within IWPB and deliver AI solutions to drive efficiency and better outcomes for Customers.

In this role you will:

  • Translate strategy into measurable fraud/NFR analytics use-cases with benefits tracking and OKRs/KPIs (revenue cost risk customer experience).
  • Lead change delivery across defined fraud typologies and NFR driving transformation in a matrix organisation.
  • Provide leadership for people and projects managing diverse onshore/offshore teams and building an open high-performance culture.
  • Deliver actionable insights through data analysis reporting and channel/customer behaviour performance monitoring.
  • Develop test deploy and maintain statistical/predictive models; manage model evaluation drift and MLOps practices.
  • Forecast fraud losses using robust statistical methods and communicate outputs clearly to stakeholders.
  • Apply GenAI/Agentic AI to improve analytical productivity insight generation and automation with appropriate controls in a regulated environment.
  • Run AI as products: roadmaps prioritisation MVP-to-scale adoption lifecycle management and decommissioning.
  • Align business risk compliance legal and technology; communicate trade-offs early and represent the function in senior stakeholder forums.
  • Embed Responsible AI and strong risk/control discipline (fairness explainability robustness security auditability) adhering to governance and relevant FIM/departmental manuals.

To be successful you will:

  • 14 years analytics experience in banking/finance ideally across Fraud and Financial/Non-Financial Risk.
  • Degree in a numerate discipline (Maths/Stats/CS or equivalent quantitative background).
  • Proven Fraud & NFR analytics SME with a track record applying advanced analytics/ML to large complex problems and delivering rapid actionable insights.
  • Strong engineering capability across data (SQL pipelines/ETL data modelling quality/lineage) and ML engineering/MLOps (deployment CI/CD monitoring drift).
  • Hands-on GenAI/Agentic AI delivery experience (prompting RAG/vector search orchestration guardrails) with Responsible AI and security controls.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and stakeholder management in a matrix/agile environment; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
