Our BCT SydneyHunter team is seeking an Assistant Regional Conservation Officer to support landholders and contribute to the delivery of private land conservation.
This is a practical landholder-facing role working directly with landholders to support the management of private land conservation agreements acting as a key point of contact throughout the agreement lifecycle. You will help landholders understand and meet their agreement obligations support annual reporting provide practical customer service and contribute to meaningful conservation outcomes.
The position will support project and program delivery through field-based assessments spatial mapping and technical input into management plans while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
The position will report to the Hunter Team Leader and will likely have a strong focus in the Central and Upper Hunter. BCT clients in this area includes a range of landholders including mining companies rural landholders and smaller family or lifestyle properties.
A significant part of the role will involve supporting offset-related agreements including Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements associated with the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme as well as legacy agreements such as Condition of Consent Conservation Agreements.
This is a targeted role under GSE Rule 26 and Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply.
About You
You bring strong communication skills sound judgement attention to detail and an interest in working across conservation natural resources and land management customer service and biodiversity offsets.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification or experience in natural resource management or biodiversity conservation
- A current Australian Class C drivers licence ability and willingness to travel.
