Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney – Business Litigation

Overview

A respected and rapidly growing regional law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Albany NY office. The firm represents a diverse client base including businesses business owners financial institutions developers and high-net-worth individuals in complex commercial and business disputes.

This role offers meaningful responsibility exposure to sophisticated litigation matters and direct mentorship from experienced attorneyswithout rigid billable hour constraints.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support commercial and business litigation matters from initial filing through resolution
• Draft pleadings motions briefs and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and assist in developing a case strategy
• Handle all phases of discovery including e-discovery and document review
• Participate in depositions hearings and trial preparation
• Collaborate with partners and clients on litigation strategy and case execution
• Support courtroom proceedings and assist with trial work as needed

Qualifications

• 210 years of experience in commercial litigation or business litigation
• Strong legal writing research and analytical skills
• Experience with motion practice discovery and trial preparation
• Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced legal environment
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active admission to the New York State Bar (required)

Note: Candidates with primary experience in personal injury insurance defense consumer credit or residential/foreclosure litigation are generally not a fit for this role.

Preferred Skills

• Federal and state court litigation experience
• Strong advocacy and oral argument skills
• Familiarity with complex commercial disputes and corporate clients
