About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Manufacturing Shop Scheduler to support a fast-growing machine shop this role you will be responsible for production planning capacity management and scheduling across multiple manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient workflow on-time delivery and optimal use of shop resources.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting is comfortable on the shop floor and enjoys solving complex scheduling and planning challenges using data systems and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage production schedules for machining assembly balancing inspection and shipment activities
- Coordinate workflow across departments based on manufacturing sequences lead times and priorities
- Perform capacity planning to ensure feasible and achievable production schedules
- Create release and maintain work orders in the ERP system (including rescheduling as priorities change)
- Maintain and improve ERP system parameters templates and planning processes
- Monitor production progress backlog material availability and shop floor status
- Run daily and weekly production reports to identify constraints shortages and delays
- Support production forecasting and KPI reporting for operational decision-making
- Participate in job planning and cross-functional scheduling meetings
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and operations teams to resolve production issues
- Analyze production data to support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing production planning or machine shop environments
- Strong knowledge of production scheduling shop floor flow and capacity planning
- Experience working with ERP systems (JobBOSS preferred; training available)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite (Intermediate level or higher)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience in job shop or Engineer-to-Order environments preferred
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Additional Requirements
- Full-time role (40 hours/week); occasional evenings or weekends may be required
- Limited travel (<15%)
- Ability to work on-site in a machine shop environment with moderate noise and moving equipment
- Ability to stand walk and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to communicate in English
