About the Role

The Peer Recovery Worker Community Supported Residential Units (CSRU) is a livedexperience role supporting people with complex mental health needs to build independence connection and hope through recoveryoriented practice.

Working alongside residents you will use your lived or living experience of recovery to support choice selfdetermination and strengthsbased goal setting. The role follows the principles of Peer Practice in line with the National Lived Experience (Peer) Guidelines and WA peer workforce frameworks.

You will work collaboratively with Support Coordinators and the broader team to deliver recoveryfocused supports assist residents with daily living activities and promote well-being through meaningful engagement and connection.

The role requires appropriate training and experience in the operation of a residential service including:

• Medication procedures
• Documentation and regulatory requirements
• Personal care routines and resident supervision
• Supporting daily social activities
• Hostel emergency procedures
• Effective respectful communication
• Maintaining safe professional boundaries

This is a fulltime fixedterm position offered on an initial maximum term contract of 24 months with the possibility of extension subject to ongoing funding and operational requirements.

What were looking for

To be successful in this role you will bring:

• A lived or living experience of recovery mental health challenges AOD issues family and domestic violence homelessness or a cultural peer perspective
• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (minimum 75% completed) or Peer Skillset at TAFE
• Experience working in community or human services settings
• Strong alignment with peer values recoveryoriented practice and traumainformed care
• Ability to build trusting respectful relationships with residents and colleagues
• Strong communication deescalation and interpersonal skills
• Ability to model personal wellbeing and healthy professional boundaries
• Basic to intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office and client systems
• Understanding of diversity inclusion and Aboriginal culture

Mandatory requirements

• Current drivers licence
• WA Working with Children Check
• National Police Certificate
• International Police Clearance (if applicable)
• First Aid Certificate
