We are seeking a highly skilled Exchange / Messaging Engineer to support enterprise customers in designing migrating and operating Microsoft 365 messaging environments. This role will focus on Exchange Online hybrid environments and email security ensuring reliable secure and scalable communication systems.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical depth troubleshooting capability and the ability to independently deliver solutions in complex enterprise environments. This position is hybrid in Tokyo Japan.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Lead and execute Exchange migrations including:
- Exchange Server Exchange Online (Microsoft 365)
- Exchange Server upgrades and hybrid configurations
- Assess existing environments and design migration strategies with minimal business disruption
- Manage and optimize Exchange Online environments including:
- Mail flow configuration and troubleshooting
- Recipient management (mailboxes distribution groups shared mailboxes)
- Administrative configuration and policy enforcement
- Monitor system health and ensure high availability and performance
- Configure and manage Microsoft Defender for Office 365 including:
- Anti-phishing anti-malware and anti-spam policies
- Threat detection and response
- Implement and support email authentication protocols:
- Collaborate on security and compliance initiatives as needed
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across:
- Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange Server
- Mail flow and delivery issues
- Connectivity and protocol-related issues (SMTP DNS TLS etc.)
- Work cross-functionally with infrastructure and security teams
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 yrs of hands-on experience managing Microsoft Exchange Online
- Proven experience with:
- Exchange Online administration and configuration
- Exchange migration projects (on-prem to cloud hybrid environments)
- On-premises Exchange Server architecture and operations
- Microsoft Defender for Office 365
- Solid understanding of:
- Email authentication (SPF DKIM DMARC)
- Core networking concepts (SMTP DNS TCP/IP HTTP TLS)
- Ability to independently manage and deliver technical solutions
- Japanese: Native or fluent (required for all communication)
- English: Not required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with:
- Identity solutions (Active Directory Entra ID Entra Connect)
- Microsoft Purview Information Protection (Sensitivity Labels DLP)
- Outlook client configuration and troubleshooting
- PowerShell scripting for automation and administration
