Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Engineer

This assignment is 50% and is a temporary position from September 2026 to January 2028. Remote work is fully possible with just occasional presence required in Mjölby.

About the Role
We are looking for an Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Engineer to join our R&D organization. The team is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and supporting the implementation of a sustainable business model across our product portfolio. You will play a key role in strengthening environmental performance reducing impact and embedding a sustainability mindset within engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor assess and interpret environmental legislation (e.g. REACH WFD ESPR EUBR CSRD E2E5)

• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements across the organization

• Support internal stakeholders with compliance-related questions across entities

• Guide R&D in applying eco-design and product sustainability principles

• Develop and maintain processes to improve environmental product performance

• Represent R&D in internal and external forums including Toyota group initiatives

• Act as a technical advisor on environmental regulations and standards

• Participate in industry associations and standardization bodies

• Measure analyze and report environmental performance data

You will be part of a team of five with three members based in Mjölby and two in Italy. You will report to the responsible manager in Bologna.

Qualifications & Skills

• Solid understanding of environmental laws directives and regulatory frameworks

• Experience with environmental data analysis reporting and communication

• Knowledge of Design for Environment (DfE) Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and relevant standards

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

• Hands-on solution-oriented mindset with high integrity

• Proactive curious and motivated to drive sustainable improvements

• Experience in a similar role is required

Fluency in English both spoken and written is required proficiency in Swedish is strongly preferred.
