VMware Engineer (Remote Night/After Hours Work)

Location: Remote U.S. based only

Schedule: Full time (40 hrs/week) with required night/after hours patching windows. Consistent weekly schedule throughout engagement.

Contract Length: 6 months with extension potential

Rate: $80 -$85/hr W2

Client: WWT/US Bank

About the Role

Were looking for an experienced VMware Engineer to support a large scale configuration remediation effort for a major U.S. financial institution. Youll focus on correcting CIS Baseline drift and advanced VM settings across a 20000 VM environment. This role is highly technical automation driven and requires comfort working during after hours maintenance windows.

If you enjoy solving complex VMware challenges at scale and building automation that makes environments healthier and more consistent this is a great fit.

What Youll Do

Remediate CIS Baseline and advanced VM configuration issues across thousands of VMs

Execute updates power cycles and configuration changes during scheduled patching windows (primarily nights)

Build automation and scripts (PowerCLI/PowerShell/etc.) to streamline remediation

Support Secure Boot UEFI and certificate related VM updates

Coordinate with UAT and Production teams to align work with maintenance processes

Assist with improving observability alerting and VM data visibility

What You Bring

5 years of hands on VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter experience

Strong scripting skills (PowerCLI PowerShell Python etc.)

Experience with large scale VM configuration changes

Familiarity with CIS Benchmarks and security hardening

Ability to work independently during night/after hours windows

Must be U.S based (onshore) due to security requirements

Nice to Have

Experience automating certificate renewals (including VCF cert management)

Observability/monitoring improvements (Aria VCF logs Datadog)

VM placement/anti affinity logic experience (e.g. SQL primary/secondary nodes)
