Looking for a full-time caregiving role with a consistent 3-day workweek and paid training

Appalachian Community Services is hiring a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Robbinsville NC area to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their behavioral health needs.

This role is a strong fit for experienced caregivers DSPs CNAs HHAs PCAs home health workers and other direct care professionals looking to continue their work in a meaningful person-centered setting. It is also a great opportunity for dependable people who want to transition into caregiving and receive training and support.

What Youll Do

As a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) you will:

  • Provide daily individualized care focused on client safety health and well-being
  • Assist with personal care including hygiene grooming feeding and mobility
  • Help with daily living tasks such as cooking cleaning and routine support
  • Follow each clients Person Centered Plan (PCP) and behavior support plan
  • Support clients in building independence daily living skills and social skills
  • Transport clients to appointments shopping and community outings
  • Complete daily documentation and incident reports accurately and on time
  • Respond to crisis situations and emergencies with professionalism and empathy
  • Support clients with communication needs including adaptive communication tools when needed
  • Additional duties as required to meet client needs

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Reliable vehicle with insurance.
  • Ability to work scheduled 12-hour shifts
  • Physical ability to to work in a variety of environments including navigating stairs and other barriers in private residences.

Experience in direct care caregiving home health behavioral health or related support roles is helpful but not required. Training is provided.
