Job Summary
Summary:
The GSRP Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate research-based curriculum that supports the physical emotional social and cognitive development of preschool children enrolled in the Great Start Readiness Program. This individual ensures compliance with all GSRP guidelines and works in partnership with the associate teacher families and staff to promote school readiness and lifelong learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan develop and implement daily lesson plans using an approved GSRP curriculum (e.g. Connect4Learning).
- Conduct child observations and assessments using GSRP-approved tools (e.g. COR Advantage TS GOLD).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date child records including attendance assessment data and progress reports.
- Collaborate with the Associate Teacher and support staff to provide a safe nurturing and engaging learning environment.
- Develop strong relationships with families including conducting home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure classroom compliance with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) GSRP requirements and licensing regulations.
- Participate in professional development and training as required by the program and MDE.
- Engage in team meetings reflective supervision and continuous improvement efforts.
- Use data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes.
- Monitor and report any concerns regarding child development behavior or safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement Birth-K or PK-3 endorsement; OR
A bachelors degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching.
Experience working with preschool-aged children.
Ability to meet GSRP Lead Teacher requirements per MiLEAP and applicable licensing requirements.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the GSRP-approved curriculum and GSRP-approved assessment tool.
- Experience in implementing GSRP programming.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee must be capable of performing physical demands of the job including but not limited to lifting bending stooping squatting and standing for long periods of time.
