The Program Assistant is responsible for providing essential administrative and management support for the Health Scholars Academy program operations.Health Scholars Program June 15 2026 through July 17 2026 (five weeks).
Job Description:
Expectations/Responsibilities
- Attend curriculum and planning sessions with the team.
- Plan prepare implement and support health pathway curriculum.
- Oversee lesson plans and activities focusing on developing academic workforce and self-development areas.
- Oversee lesson plans and activities focusing on developing high school level student health research.
- Plan prepare and implementing group-based student research projects.
- Facilitate and oversee development of research projects for high school student teams.
- Facilitate and oversee ACT prep sessions.
- Mentor and empower the college intern to grow professionally.
- Maintain an organized and clean classroom environment conducive to health learning.
- Foster a fun and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Recognize and work through conflicts in caring ways invites discussion on differences and arranges for a third party to assist if necessary.
- Ensure lab safety guidelines are adhered to in the classroom.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in a STEM-health area.
Work Experience:
- 2 years of STEM-health work experience.
- Experience working with rural or urban populations.
- Previous teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate degree in STEM-health area.
Work Experience:
- 5 years of STEM-health work experience.
- High school STEM teacher.
- Developing high school level student health-STEM research projects.
- Experience with middle school age to college age pathway programs.
Skills

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to education experience and training qualifications relative to the requirements of the position and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
