Job Description
Key responsibilities
Support development and testing of retrieval-augmented simulation (RAS) methods for hydrological time series.
Prepare clean and organize hydroclimatic streamflow wildfire vegetation and watershed datasets for model training and evaluation.
Help build workflows to identify historical analog periods and use them to improve prediction under changing post-fire conditions.
Assist with coding debugging and running model experiments in Python.
Contribute to model evaluation using metrics visualizations and summary tables.
Help document methods code and results for internal reports figures and future publications.
Participate in regular project meetings and provide updates on progress.
Required Qualifications
Current NSHE undergraduate student in hydrology data science computer science or a related field and enrolled in at least 6 credits
Basic programming experience in Python.
Familiarity with data analysis and handling time-series data.
Interest in hydrologic modeling machine learning or environmental data science.
Preferred Qualifications (optional)
Coursework or project experience in hydrology machine learning or time-series analysis.
Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Experience with data visualization and model evaluation.
Experience using Git HPC or cloud/GPU computing resources.
HOURS / PAY
Up to 25 hours/week during the semester and 40 hours during breaks; rate: 18/hour
