Prototype Engineer

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• Design develop and execute proof-of-concepts and advanced prototype samples supporting engineering in the creation of new products / technologies.
• Support engineering program management sales and marketing in commercial demonstrations of Gentex products.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the development of Gentex proof-of-concepts prototypes and demonstrable properties highlighting core technologies and advanced feature development.
• Execute advanced prototype samples with the highest quality possible to best represent the organization and consistent with the strategic direction set forth by Gentex leadership.
• Execute integration of vehicle-level test environments to ensure proper testing verification and validation.
• Support international offices with engineering needs for product demonstration and data collection.
• Interface with Program Management Sales Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Applied Materials Chemistry and Marketing departments to support the demonstration of Gentex products.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain knowledge of company electrical mechanical test and manufacturing practices and engineer consistent with them.
• Maintain resources within the engineering vehicle fleet model shop/garage facilities and rapid prototype equipment.
• Avoid company politics and promote cooperation and consensus teamwork for the common good of all employees across all departments.
• Complying with all Company policies and procedures safety regulations company safety policies and safely perform all duties including but not limited to promoting a safe workplace.
• Maintaining high level of honesty integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.

POSITION DEMANDS:

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Automotive or related discipline.
• Demonstrated success in electronic systems and prototype development.
• Hands-on automotive experience and strong trouble-shooting capabilities.
• Ability to process through networking with technical focus areas in the creation of systems.
• Minimum 2 years related work experience is preferred.
