Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hybrid Cloud Engineer to design build and operate infrastructure that spans both Microsoft Azure and onpremises environments. This role is responsible for ensuring that our hybrid infrastructure is secure scalable resilient and aligned with enterprise architecture standards. The Hybrid Cloud Engineer will work closely with DevOps Architecture Engineering Networking/Systems and SecOps teams to support application modernization automation and cloudnative initiativeswhile maintaining and optimizing the onpremises systems that remain a permanent and critical part of our technology landscape.
This position reports directly to the Director IT Operations and plays a key role in advancing the companys hybrid cloud strategy.

You will have direct visibility and impact at the leadership level while working handson with engineering teams to shape how our hybrid infrastructure is designed connected and operated.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Design implement and maintain cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure leveraging IaaS PaaS and managed services alongside existing onpremises systems
- Architect and manage hybrid connectivity between Azure and onpremises data centers including VPN ExpressRoute DNS and network peering configurations
- Build and manage environments with a focus on reliability performance scalability and cost optimization across both cloud and onprem footprints
- Support application teams in migrating modernizing and operating workloadsdetermining appropriate placement across Azure and onpremises infrastructure based on technical and business requirements
- Support and optimize enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware / HyperV) and associated storage and networking
DevOps & Automation
- Partner closely with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines infrastructureascode automation and operational excellence across hybrid environments
- Develop and maintain infrastructureascode templates and automation scripts for provisioning configuration management and environment consistency
Architecture & Security
- Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects to ensure cloud and hybrid solutions align with architectural standards security requirements and longterm strategy
- Work closely with SecOps to implement and enforce security best practices across hybrid infrastructure including identity management network segmentation monitoring and compliance
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor hybrid environments troubleshoot issues and proactively identify opportunities for improvement across both Azure and onpremises systems
- Develop and maintain documentation standards and runbooks for hybrid cloud platforms and services
- Evaluate new Azure services onpremises technologies and hybrid integration patterns; provide recommendations based on business and technical needs
- Partner with infrastructure teams on capacity lifecycle and resiliency planning
- Partner with leadership on cloud and hybrid cost optimization capacity planning and placement decisions
Required Qualifications
- Strong handson experience with Microsoft Azure (compute networking storage identity security and monitoring)
- Experience independently owning and operating production-level hybrid cloud platforms in an enterprise environment
- Demonstrated experience with onpremises infrastructure including Windows Server Active Directory VMware or HyperV and traditional networking (VLANs firewalls load balancers)
- Experience designing and supporting production hybrid cloud environments with connectivity between Azure and onpremises data centers
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. ARM Bicep Terraform Ansible or equivalent). Terraform and/or Bicep preferred; openness to other IaC tools acceptable
- Experience working closely with DevOps teams and CI/CD tooling in hybrid deployment scenarios
- Strong understanding of cloud and onpremises networking concepts identity and access management (including hybrid identity with Azure AD / Entra ID) and security controls
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering architecture and operations teams
- Strong troubleshooting documentation and communication skills
Preferred / Plus Qualifications
- Experience with additional cloud platforms (e.g. AWS GCP) is a plus
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker Kubernetes) in hybrid or onpremises deployments
- Familiarity with monitoring logging and observability platforms spanning hybrid environments (e.g. Datadog Azure Monitor Prometheus Grafana)
- Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Administrator Azure Solutions Architect Azure Hybrid) are a plus
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible Puppet Chef) for onpremises automation
- Familiarity with storage area networks (SAN) backup/recovery solutions and enterprise data center operations
