About This Opportunity
The Assessment Psychologist is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments & evaluations including formal psychological testing clinical interviews and treatment plan development for college aged and older students with identified learning &/or mental health concerns. This service may be part of an interdisciplinary evaluation team or conducted as a single addition the Assessment Psychologist may be asked to conduct educational presentations for community organizations and professionals to raise awareness of the challenges that college students with under-identified learning challenges face. This position currently reports to the SLC Director.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct clinical interviews with clients as part of a clinical assessment develop case formulation and then synthesize/disseminate significant information to the client and SLC staff. If requested also disseminate information to faculty who are currently involved in that students education.
Conduct psychological-educational assessments using appropriate and normative standardized instruments appropriate for young adults (ages 18) based on referred information. Assessment may need to include numerous domains of functioning including the following: cognitive academic attention executive functioning learning and memory and social/emotional/behavioral functioning.
Conduct educational and training seminars in the community including to professionals educators & laypeople as requested.
Attend SLC staff meetings as assigned.
Adhere to all mental health legal and ethical mandates and guidelines in the execution of duties including timely completion of charting billing report preparation and ethical/confidentiality issues as outlined by the Board of Psychology and American Psychological Association.
Meet productivity expectations as assigned by the SLC Director.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by the SLC Director or the Chief Clinical and Programs Officer.
Work collaboratively with SLC Learning Specialists and/or Director to develop educational recommendations and work or academic accommodations.
Qualifications
Ph.D./Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an accredited graduate school preferred.
Experience in either a clinic and/or school-based setting. High School or College setting highly preferred.
Adherence to all professional ethical legal and confidentiality issues outlined by the California Board of Psychology The American Psychological Association and State and Federal laws (e.g. HIPAA).
Knowledge and understanding of SLCs areas of expertise: ADHD SLD and Anxiety & Depression.
Possess a high degree of knowledge and skills in evidence-based adolescent therapies case formulations and assessment.
Familiarity and comfort with providing therapy via telehealth platforms.
Knowledge of procedures for developmental and psychological evaluations of young adulthood.
Excellent time management and material organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with both clients and colleagues.
Flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and priorities within the agency.
Knowledge and use of computers and an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is essential.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Working Conditions
Schedule: Full-time position. Flexibility required to meet client needs; occasional evenings and weekend availability may be necessary. Ability to work onsite at least 3 days a week.
Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally lift and move documents laptops flip charts and other materials. Extended periods working at a computer terminal required.
Work Environment: On-site position in Palo Alto California. Frequent interpersonal interaction with peers colleagues and external contacts.
