Job Summary
Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a qualified Joint Fires SME support NATOs Joint Force Training Center (JFTC) located in Bydgoszcz Poland conducting training and exercises for the NATO Command Structure (NCS) and NATO Force Structure (NFS) to ensure operational ability and interoperability in a variety of environments.
The Training and Exercise Division (TED) delivers combined and joint training and
exercises. Mainly static and distributed as well as single and multi-echelon for tactical and operational level headquarters staff and forces in the full spectrum of NATO operations. JFTC may assume the responsibility of the Officer Directing Exercise (ODE) for various exercises i.e. NOBLE JOLT (NOJO) LOYAL LEDA (LOLE) LOYAL DOLOS (LODO). NOJO is a logistics and sustainment centric Computer Assisted Exercise/Command Post Exercise (CAX/CPX) that will train JLSGNP. LOLE and LODO are land domain tactical level Computer Assisted Exercises/Command Post Exercises (CAX/CPX) that will train relevant headquarters from the NFS in the Warfighting Corps role. Additionally JFTC may support the NATO GEORGIA (NAGE) exercise/s.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
- Contribute to all Joint Fires aspects of the exercise planning and execution within the framework of multidomain operations. During the execution phase of the exercise and will assist in the Dynamic Scripting if established.
- Provide perennial work-experience at the NATO tactical or higher level.
- Employ detailed understanding and experience of the NATO Exercise Planning Process (EP as per Bi-SC 075-003) and Operational Planning Process (COPD MC 0133/5) in preparation of NATO exercises.
- Provide Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) advice (OR-8 OR-9) level advice to JFTC personnel and assist in Joint Fires planning.
- Provide Joint Fires related inputs to Scenario and Content Development.
- Support the development of operational challenges at the tactical level as well as assist in the development of exercise content and play in a dynamically changing environment.
- Provide advice to the JFTC team in key EXCON positions to facilitate exercise planning delivery and synchronization of effects and assure consistency in exercise delivery.
- Exercise Planning Support
- Assist EXCON in analyzing the TAs Joint Fires Exercise Goals or Training Objectives (TOs) and set the conditions to meet the TAs Exercise Goals or TOs with regard to Joint Fires. If required suggest options to resolve discrepancies to facilitate the achievement of Exercise Goals or TOs.
- Identify TAs knowledge gaps. Develop and provide Joint Fires learn tutorials or mentoring according to the TAs needs in the Development of the Joint Targeting and Joint Fires Campaign.
- Develop adversarys Joint Fires Scheme of Manoeuvre based on all available Exercise (content) documents to contest the Training Audience (TA) in all domains on tactical level.
- Prepare the Joint Targeting System Database with High Value and High Priority Targets to ensure that sufficient targets and target data is available for the respective TA in the Joint Target List (JTL).
- Coordinate Joint Targeting and Joint Fires aspects in depths with other units involved in the Joint Targeting and Joint Fires processes in accordance to the respective Exercise setup.
- Assist in the development of the Joint Fires exercise incidents (Content Development) to challenge the TAs Targeting and Fires Campaign.
- Provide support and advise to the Joint Fires portion of the Content Development Workshop for the scripting of incidents and in support of the Dynamic or Free play.
- Develop the LOCON Joint Fires Scheme of Manoeuvre in order to challenge the TA.
- Exercise Execution Support
- Set the conditions for the training of the Joint Fires process and its extended days or 24/7 exercise execution incl. Dynamic/ Free Play if required.
- Plan develop and coordinate the conduct of Dynamic/ Free Play in a multidomain environment allowing to execute freedom of manoeuvre.
- Observe and advise the TA on Joint Fires matters.
- Advise EXCON Director and/ or Exercise Senior Mentor wrt to exercise linked Joint Fires aspects.
- Assessment and Reporting
- Contribute to the evaluation of Training Objectives (Warfare Development Objectives).
- Provide subject matter input to exercise observations and lessons learned.
- Identify capability gaps doctrinal issues or procedural challenges related to exercise planning and execution.
- Coordination
- Liaise with HICON LOCON SIDECON GREYCELL WHITECELL OPFOR and other functional SMEs in order to create coordinated exercise content.
- Coordinate with other stakeholders that support the Joint Fires Process (TA Leadership STRATCOM Legal Advisor Political Advisor Host Nations Cross-JOA units etc).
- When applicable liaise with Host Nations supporting the exercise.
- Support synchronization of the Land Targeting and Fires activities with higher and lower levels as well as other Component Commands f.e. CFACC for Air Land Integration (ALI) if required.
- Participate in relevant planning meetings workshops and coordination events.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in exercise planning utilizing NATO Exercise Planning Process (EPP) within NATO environment and national level at the OR-8 level or above at retirement
- Practical experience in NATO comprehensive operational planning (COP) and knowledge of doctrine and procedures at Brigade Division Corps MCLCC or Joint level
- Practical experience in NATO Joint Targeting for a minimum of 5 years
- Experience developing realistic exercise injects incidents and operational problems and challenges
- Have in-depth knowledge and practical experience with the NATO Targeting Process as well as means and methods of Air Land Integration (ALI)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft platforms and desirable familiarity with AI enabled tools for product development and management
- A native English language speaker or an individual presenting excellent command of spoken and written English with a proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at the level of (SLP) NATO STANAG 6001 - 3333 (Listening Speaking Reading and Writing).
*This position is considered Part Time On Call based on when exercises are being performed for the duration of the exercise.*
Clearance: Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET or higher security clearance.
Location: NATO Joint Force Training Centre Bydgoszcz Poland
Travel: CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required.
