Program Management Advisor Scrum Master

Role Overview

The Program Management Advisor Scrum Master plays a critical role in enabling the successful delivery of business and technology solutions within the health insurance domain with a strong preference for experience supporting medical claims operations payment integrity programs and related healthcare administrative processes including pre-pay and post-pay review recovery initiatives and claim workflow optimization. This role supports AAPS initiatives focused on improving claims accuracy reducing waste and fraud and modernizing end-to-end payment integrity workflows through automation and technology-enabled solutions. Initiatives often span multiple teams systems and stakeholders and require coordination across business technology and vendor partners.

The Scrum Master partners closely with Product Managers Product Owners business subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical delivery teams to translate complex regulatory operational and business requirements into scalable technology-enabled solutions. Work is primarily aligned to automation technology modernization and software development efforts that support payment integrity and claim-processing programs.

This role acts as both a servant leader and agile coach while also flexing into broader program and project management responsibilities as needed. It requires proactive ownership of delivery health cross-team coordination risk and dependency management and stakeholder communication across one or more teams.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Delivery & Team Enablement

  • Apply Agile values principles and practices (Scrum Kanban and hybrid models) to plan manage and execute work across sprint and program increment cycles.
  • Serve as a servant leader for scrum team(s) promoting self-organization accountability and continuous learning.
  • Coach and mentor team members Product Owners and stakeholders on Agile mindset roles and best practices to improve flow predictability and delivery outcomes.
  • Facilitate all core Agile ceremonies including sprint planning backlog refinement daily stand-ups sprint reviews/demos retrospectives and PI-related events.

Planning Execution & Delivery Management

  • Partner closely with Product Owners to ensure backlog readiness clear story definition prioritization and acceptance criteria.
  • Support sprint and release planning by balancing capacity dependencies risks and delivery commitments.
  • Track and manage delivery progress milestones and metrics using Agile delivery tools (e.g. Jira) enabling transparency and data-driven decisions.
  • Coordinate and support system demos user acceptance testing and release readiness activities for automation and modernization initiatives.

Program & Project Management Responsibilities

  • Step into project or program management functions as needed to support initiatives that extend beyond standard Scrum team boundaries.
  • Manage project plans timelines scope risks and interdependencies for technology and automation efforts.
  • Support cross-team coordination sequencing of work and alignment to broader program and business objectives.
  • Drive execution against delivery commitments while adapting approach based on project complexity and delivery model.

Impediment Risk & Dependency Management

  • Proactively identify manage and escalate risks issues blockers and cross-team dependencies impacting delivery.
  • Drive timely resolution of impediments by partnering with leadership peer Scrum Masters technical leads and business partners.
  • Maintain and track action items risks assumptions and decisions to closure.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare and present clear concise status updates for stakeholders and leadership highlighting progress risks dependencies and upcoming milestones.
  • Translate complex delivery technical and operational details into executive-ready messaging.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology partners to ensure alignment and shared accountability.

Process Oversight

  • Track project and program-level deliverables and timelines as required.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise governance compliance and operational standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency reduce handoffs and streamline delivery processes.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher strongly preferred or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master Agile Project Manager or similar delivery leadership role.
  • Agile and/or Scrum Master certification (CSM PSM SAFe or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience supporting health insurance medical claims payment integrity or related healthcare business domains strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering automation technology modernization or software solutions in complex operational environments.
  • Hands-on experience using Agile delivery tools (e.g. Jira) to manage sprint-based and hybrid delivery models.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies principles and frameworks (Scrum Kanban).
  • Ability to flex between Scrum Master and traditional project management responsibilities as delivery needs require.
  • Strong technical and business acumen with the ability to translate business needs into technical outcomes and explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience managing risks dependencies and competing priorities across teams.
  • Excellent communication facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

For this position we anticipate offering an annual salary of 95400 - 159000 USD / yearly depending on relevant factors including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
