Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work within a treatment team to help provide coordinated mental/behavioral health care to patients.
- Provide documentation of patient care in accordance with AWARE policy and professional standards utilizing AWAREs electronic health record as outlined trained and assigned.
- Create psychiatric care plans and integrate with existing behavioral/psychotherapeutic plans/
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Prescribe appropriate psychiatric medications as indicated.
- Recognize physical health issues and refer for patients for care as necessary.
- Be available to teams as a resource regarding medications and treatments.
- Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals both inside and outside of the organization.
- Act as an advocate for patients both within and outside of the organization.
- Provide education and support to staff patients and families on managing psychiatric illness and disability.
- Maintain licensure and certification required by AWARE the State of Montana and the federal government.
- Participates in peer/record review process and other quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Performs at or above productivity benchmarks identified by AWARE so that services are sustainable.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Talents Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge and commensurate skills in providing psychiatric care to children adolescents and adults including those with co-existing intellectual / developmental disabilities.
- Accurate and effective written and verbal communication skills and comfort working as part of and sharing decision-making with a therapeutic team.
- Masters degree from an accredited physician assistant program;
- Must have APRN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified;
- Physician Assistant - Certified credential issued by the NCCPA and a post-graduate fellowship in psychiatry/mental health Psychiatry Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) or two (2) plus years of post-graduate full-time direct psychiatric clinical experience
- Must have prescriptive authorization
- Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology; readiness to learn and adapt to new technology as it is adopted by AWARE and to provide input to the selection and implementation of such technology
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with partners at various levels: patients family members physicians members of the treatment team and representatives of the community;
- Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
