A Day in the Life
As a Principal Strategic Sourcing Specialist Air and Ground you will be a key member of Medtronics center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team reporting to the Sr. Sourcing Manager of Corporate Services. You will lead the global Air and Ground categories within our Travel & Meetings team. This critical role will drive the strategy sourcing negotiation and management of Air and Ground contracts to support Medtronics business travel events and meetings worldwide. You will bring your expertise in Travel sourcing a passion for supplier partnerships cost optimization and a commitment to delivering value to stakeholders.

You will bring your demonstrated history of quickly identifying new opportunities establishing and building relationships in a matrixed environment working collaboratively to ensure team performance and successfully influencing various stakeholders at all levels.

In this role you will:
- Develop implement and manage global sourcing strategies for Air and Ground Travel including airlines rail car rental rideshare and black car service.
- Identify strategies across the Travel portfolio that utilize multiple levers to drive sustainable and incremental value optimizing Air and Ground spend
- Develop and execute global category strategies that align with Medtronics business objectives and travel and meeting policies
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes including market analysis RFP development supplier selection contract negotiation and implementation
- Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders/leadership and critical suppliers
- Engage and influence global cross functional stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by the category team; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement
- Demonstrate Market Intelligence and share trends to ensure Medtronic is at the forefront of the Air and Ground industry
- Leverage data and analytics to create spend management recommendations
- Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (e.g. legal finance IT employee expense)
- Drive supplier performance management including KPIs SLAs and quarterly business reviews.
- Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement and present ideas to leadership
- Educate on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience OR
- Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
Nice to Have: Preferred Requirements
- Highly proficient in Excel PowerPoint Power BI
- Demonstrated leadership problem-solving communication negotiation tact judgment and organizational skills
- Demonstrated strength in analytical skills
- Global Category Management experience (Strategy development and execution in accordance to Strategic Sourcing methodology)
- Ability to partner with and influence internal stakeholders
- Proactive self-starter able to navigate the gray areas
- Strong program management skills
- Solid business and legal acumen with a high attention to detail
- Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
