If you have experience providing excellent customer service and engaging programming then the Library Paraprofessional position may be for you. As the Library Paraprofessional for our Southeast Regional Library you will perform library work basic readers advisory reference services and present this role youll link the community to library resources while breathing life into your own story.

We Require

• Two years of library experience

• Associates degree in Library Science Education Liberal Arts Social Science Information Management or a related field

• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

• Library/public library experience with library-related automation systems or databases; eReaders and other digital devices

• Experience creating and implementing programs for youth teens and adults

• Paraprofessional library skills acquired through a specialized educational training program

Job Contributions

• Assistswith preparingimplementingand presenting public programs

• Assistswith providing direct service to customers through basic reference and readers advisory services

• Assistswith conducting school visits group toursand community outreach

• Assistspatrons in the use of computer services including the online catalog the Internet and various databases

• Creates reading logs brochures signage posters bulletin boards letters bookmarks bibliographies games promotionaldisplaysand pamphlets

• Performs routine opening/closing procedures

• Responds to customer concerns

• Assistswithcollection development includingweeding shiftingshelf-readingetc. as needed.

Working Conditions

• Position works in a library environment with a varied schedule continually dependent on branch needs and often requires evening and weekend availability

• Ability to kneel walk and move program supplies from various storage areas to the site of the program in the library and off-site

• Ability to lift 20 pounds floor to waist lift 5 pounds waist to shoulder lift 1 pound shoulder to overhead carry 10 pounds a distance of 50 feet and push/pull 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
