Commercial Underwriter

Position

WCF Insurance an A rated carrier growing throughout the western states has an immediate opening for a Commercial Underwriter on the Small Business team in the Denver CO area. This full-time exempt position reports to the Director of Underwriting and offers the opportunity for hybrid work (Tuesday through Thursday in-office). Responsibilities

An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal account risks. The incumbent manages a book of business for growth profitability and retention. The underwriter initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits. The person in this position provides a thorough documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium.

Qualifications

• At least three years commercial underwriting experience in all business lines
• Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals rules and classifications.
• Experience with loss sensitive rating programs.
• CPCU ARM CIC or similar certifications preferred.
• Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite excel experience required.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills verbal and written.
• Excellent critical thinking problem solving analytical skills.
• Bachelors degree in finance marketing business or equivalent experience preferred.

We open to considering candidates for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter depending on experience. Must have 5 years of related experience for the senior level. WCF Insurance offers an extensive compensation package. Benefits include Medical Dental and Vision insurance company paid life insurance 401K with a Generous 6% employer match and additional benefits such as an Employee Assistance Program and time off to volunteer. All employees earn 4 weeks of vacation their first year. Expected salary for the underwriting level position is $76000 to $95000 and $88000 to $110000 for the Senior Underwriter level depending on experience certifications and education.
